“To contemplate is to look at shadows.”

In The Daily Post https://dailypost.wordpress.com/photo-challenges/silence-2/, author CHERI LUCAS ROWLANDS mused about what ‘Silence” would look like in a photograph. As a photographer, its always interesting to capture and image that causes the view to “think”. I believe this photograph of an old rowboat, captured at Peggy’s Cove in Nova Scotia evokes the concept of “silence”. I purposely presented this image in black-and-white, in order to eliminate the influence of color and to force the viewer to think about the shapes present. The decaying hulk of this boat, in contrast to the immutable nature of the adjacent rock, to me, feels like time has stood still. Other than the gentle lapping of the water of the Cove, and the occasional bird song, this area was truly, silent.
